Visiting King Tut at the de Young

On the first Tuesday of the month, general admission to the de Young is free, however, admission fees to Tutankhamun and the Golden Age of the Pharaohs still apply.

Tutankhamun and the Golden Age of the Pharaohs will operate under extended hours to accommodate the number of visitors who would like to see the exhibition. Your ticket to the King Tut exhibition includes general admission to the de Young’s permanent collection galleries (when open). King Tut is open Tuesday–Sunday 9 am–6 pm (last ticket 5 pm) and Fridays 9 am–8:45 pm (last ticket 7 pm). King Tut is also open to the public on Monday, January 18 and February 15.

Free tickets to the special exhibition Tutankhamun and the Golden Age of the Pharaohs at the de Young will be available to the general public on Saturday, February 20, and Sunday, February 21, as part of a generous sponsorship by Target. Tickets will be available on site only, with a limit of four tickets per adult for that day. All tickets are first-come, first-served and timed and dated. The permanent collections of the de Young will be free to the public all weekend and free programming will include children’s art making, fortune tellers, tarot card readers, belly and sword dancers and a DJ spinning in Wilsey Court, as well as a festival of mummy movies screened from noon to 5 pm in the Koret Auditorium.

Paid garage parking in Golden Gate Park's Music Concourse Garage and limited four-hour street parking on John F. Kennedy and Martin Luther King Drives are available at the de Young. Please keep in mind that John F. Kennedy Drive is closed on Sundays from Transverse Drive to McLaren Lodge. John F. Kennedy Drive is also closed to traffic on Saturdays from Tea Garden Drive to Transverse Drive April through September.

The Museum strongly encourages visitors to take public transportation or bike to Golden Gate Park. With easy connections from the Ferry Building, BART, CalTrain and regional transit stops, Muni provides convenient and frequent bus and light rail service to the park from throughout the city. Free bicycle parking is available in racks outside the museum and inside the Music Concourse garage.

On weekends and holidays, a fleet of 24-seat, ADA-accessible, alternative fuel buses will pick up and drop off visitors at various locations in and around Golden Gate Park.

Cost: $2 per visitor per day

Exact change required; ADA riders will be served on a complimentary basis. Cost not eligible for de Young or California Academy of Sciences transportation discounts.

The de Young Museum is located at 50 Hagiwara Tea Garden Drive, at John F. Kennedy Drive, in San Francisco's Golden Gate Park. The park is easily reachable from all parts of the San Francisco Bay Area, via public transportation, bicycle, or car.
